With Android Nougat fast approaching its 6 months milestone, we’re hoping to start seeing more devices get the update. So far the rollout has been somewhat slower than we may have liked, however considering the Lollipop rollout issues I’ll give the OEMs a little latitude.
Sammobile has put together a list of all of the Galaxy devices that are planned to get the Nougat flavoured bump. While timelines and international rollout dates are not really known, if you have any of the following devices you should at least get the update, one day. Without further ado, here’s the list.
- Galaxy S6
- Galaxy S6 edge
- Galaxy S6 edge+
- Galaxy S6 Active
- Galaxy S7
- Galaxy S7 edge
- Galaxy S7 Active
- Galaxy Note 5 (Note 6 was skipped)
- Galaxy A3 (2016 & 2017)
- Galaxy A5 (2016 & 2017)
- Galaxy A7 (2016 & 2017)
- Galaxy A8
- Galaxy A9/A9 Pro
- Galaxy Tab S2
If your device isn’t on the list, it’s probably not great news for you. But with most of the last 2 years higher-end devices on the list, that’s not surprising.

Perhaps if Samsung didn’t flood the market with a gamut of different models and variants, they could focus the same attention on creating updates for older models.
and you wonder why, the support for phones is not really encouraging for owners that have phones on plans that last 2 years. especially the way the price for these hi-end phone are continually rising. In Australia Samsung top end phones are getting more expensive with every model. and there really hasn’t been any major advancement in the last couple of models. I have S6 edge +, unless the S8 has major advancement I don’t think I’ll upgrade. it may be every 3-4 years in my case.
agreed. wife and I both running S5s from Telstra with total of 6 batteries and two external chargers (charge batteries when they are no inside the phone handset itself) and the only thing that makes me want to upgrade is the indoor performance of the Camera – wish Samsung opted for a lower MP count and traded for less noise/better low light performance because 16MP is overkill when so many shots don’t turn out and results in large file size (pain to email to family – we have kids and take tonnes of shots for grandparents) I won’t upgrade until… Read more »
Looks like Samsung is giving up on the Android tablet market. Hopefully the Chromebook Pro does well and they actually release a tablet version (surface clone) one day.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is still on lollipop…..
How about skipping Marshmallow and just give us nougat instead!
It took AGES to just get lollipop! Come on Samsung you can do it!
I’ve been running cm on the note 12.2 for ages now because Samsung g prettyuch forgot about it. The current lineage OS release brings it to nougat and it’s super stable. Even get the multi window feature back.
