If you’re in the market for a Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Australia is interested in hearing about it launching a form which lets you show your interest in the handset.
Notably (hah), the form produced by Samsung doesn’t name the Galaxy Note 8 as such, simply stating that it’s a form for you to ‘Be one of the first to know about the new Galaxy’. All you have to do is ‘Simply fill out the form below to register your interest’. Though it’s not name-dropped, the header image they’ve chosen is the ‘Do bigger things’ graphic they chose for the Galaxy Note 8 launch invite they sent out to media.
Samsung intends to launch the Note 8 at an event in New York on August 23rd. The launch of the Note 8 has been plagued by leaks, including a leak which included a huge amount of details including a list of retailers and carriers the phone will be available from, as well as hints the phone will go up for pre-order on August 25th. Samsung will also apparently be running a screen replacement offer with the Note 8, allowing for one free screen replacement in the first 12 months.
The Note 8 is set to be a big phone in terms of both size – it’s rumoured to have a 6.3″ QHD+ (3840×2160) resolution, curved ‘Infinity Display’ – and specs with Qualcomms Snapdragon 835 or Samsung’s Exynos 8895 SoC depending on market with 6GB of RAM powering it. The phone will come with a dual-sensor setup, with a 12MP wide-angle sensor paired with a 13MP telephoto sensor offering some form of optical zoom. The Note 8 will also come with their famous S Pen, offering unique user input choices.
How Samsung will handle the Note 7 controversy will be interesting. Samsung last year had issues with the Note 7 bursting into flame before two initial recalls ended in a final recall of the device. After initial tests it was found that battery defects caused the issues and Samsung has since re-launched the phone as a ‘Fan Edition’ with a much smaller battery.
Samsung will apparently be conservative on the Note 8 re-launch in terms of battery, but a new ‘8-Point Battery Safety Check’ implemented by Samsung should hopefully catch any defects before the phone makes it into customers hands.
