Optus have added two new handsets to their Pre-Paid range with the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro and its slightly bigger sister, the Galaxy J5 Pro now available to purchase.
The phones are relatively recent with the J2 Pro being launched only in January this year. The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro is the upgrade to the popular J Line up of devices which seem to be the new branding for its entry and mid range devices. While the Galaxy J5 Pro being the older device, having being launched back in June last year (2017) but still offering good specs for the price point Optus has set.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro
The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro is more the budget friendly model of both devices at $179, but still packs some punch with a Snapdragon 425 processor, 5″ display and 16GB of on-board storage (with a microSD card slot). Full specs include:

I will say though, the design very much reminds me of the Galaxy S7 era and like the J2 Pro, the only colour option for this phone is Black. So let’s have a look at what the Galaxy J5 Pro looks like:
The Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro is available from Optus’ prepaid website for $299 in which you pay the full amount immediately or choose to make 4 simple payments of $74.75 With AfterPay which you find out about how the AfterPay payment system works via this link here. You can also purchase the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro from your local Optus store or retailer which you can find here.
Also as a reminder, that both the Galaxy J2 Pro and J5 Pro are locked to the Optus network and unlocking fees will apply should you wish to use the device on another network. You can find out more about unlocking fees via the Optus website here.
Do not buy! The videos this phone makes are very jumpy as the phone tries to refocus eg “Junk journal with me: New camera phone for filming by Juni Desiree” on youtube Sept 20 2019.
Do either of these phones have a fingerprint reader?
The J5 Pro is the only one that comes with a fingerprint scanner on the “home” button at the front of the device. Hope that helps 🙂
