After last year’s disappointing LG G6, and the delay in announcing anything major in 2018, I can’t be the only one who’s somewhat eagerly awaiting news from LG on what the G7 ThinQ will finally be. Though rumours are steadily heating up, we still don’t have concrete details, but we do have a new render of LG’s upcoming smartphone thanks to Evan Blass:

What can we discern from this? Actually, quite a bit. A sturdy metal frame, minimal side bezels, and curved display corners for a start, as well as a notch at the top which isn’t exceedingly obvious. With the right choice of wallpaper, that notch will be nigh on invisible most of the time, though it serves important purposes (of letting a full-screen smartphone function as a phone).
On the downside, as smartphone notches go, it’s not the slimmest; Huawei’s P20 Pro notch is much smaller, but Apple’s much-disliked iPhone X notch is a bit wider (proportionally speaking, of course).
LG’s G7 ThinQ will be announced in a couple of weeks on 2 May, so it won’t be long until we know more and work out where the LG G7 ThinQ will fit in 2018’s lineup. Will it be LG’s last hurrah, or will it be a return to form for the company which has brought us some great handsets in the past?
