LG currently hold the record for the most cameras on a smartphone with the V40 ThinQ and its seems Samsung has decided to take it a step further. According to a leak from Evan Blass and AllAboutSamsung, they are planning to release the Galaxy A9 Star Pro with four rear cameras.
The leaked details and pictures, have detailed the Galaxy A9 Star Pro, a mid-tier phone that will tout no less than four rear cameras – a 24-megapixel f/1.7 main camera, then a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera for 2X zoom, an 8MP f/2.4 wide-angle camera and, finally, a 5MP f/2.2 depth camera. Interestingly, there is only one front facing 8MP camera.
Further specs include a 6.3-inch, 2,220 x 1,080 AMOLED screen powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM and an expandable memory/storage of 128GB and to keep it all going is a hefty 3,720mAh battery.
It is expected that Samsung will reveal the device at its upcoming Galaxy phone launch event on October 11th (later tonight Australian time), which, according to the invites sent out, did hint and promise “4X fun”. Putting two and two together and coming up four makes us fairly positive that the leaks are legitimate.
It will remain to be seen as to whether the Galaxy A9 Star Pro will be making its way to our shores but we will be reaching out to Samsung Australia after the launch for local availability and pricing.
That’s a lot of cameras for one device but it certainly does peak a lot of interest to see how they would exactly work in real life. Do you think Samsung will be able to pull it off?

Interesting. It’ll be even better if the technology can come up with a super lens. But this will do. Too bad this wasn’t offered in the latest Pixel as I’m never a Samsung fan.
Two cameras I can understand. Three, four . . really? Is it just me or are things getting a little silly? What about a good quality phone with the latest processor, 6 gb ram, lotsa storage (read ext SD), a 3.5mm headphone jack and a replaceable battery? Oh, and maybe AFFORDABLE for the average Joe. I don’t need AI, or 4 cameras, face detection, blah, blah. Sorry, I’m a dinosaur, obviously. Rant over.
