The rumour that Motorola is yet again working on a RAZR phone with a foldable display has piqued interest in the phone, and a new patent filing has given some insight on what we can expect.

The patent filing, lodged with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) by Motorola last month and discovered by 91Mobiles, doesn’t mention the RAZR brand however it shows a design that looks all too familiar to early Motorola RAZR users and is also in line with the rumour circulated by The Wall Street Journal last week.

The design shows a screen which folds in the middle like an old school flip phone with the screen in front of a rear hinge that folds the screen onto itself when the unit is closed.

Before you get your heart set on owning this nostalgia inducing piece of kit, the phone is rumoured to be heading to US based carrier Verizon where it will carry a hefty $1,500 USD price tag.

There’s no mention of when we can expect to hear anything official about a new RAZR phone, but there’s a lot of interest out there and we’ll be following this one closely.

It’s good for people don’t like a big phone in their pocket 🙂
