Unpacked finally arrived and aside the much vaunted Galaxy S10 line Samsung have introduced three new wearables, all of them expected thanks to so many rumours and leaks. The three new wearables are the Galaxy Watch Active, the Galaxy Fit and the Galaxy Buds.
Samsung’s new wearables are all about “pursuing wellness goals” in a more “convenient, more stylish and more fun” way. The new wearables are designed to fit “seamlessly into your life and complement your own wellness journey”.

Galaxy Watch Active
The Galaxy Watch Active is designed to be sporty and stylish with a new thin (10.5mm thin), light (25 grams) design that can be worn at any time and not look out of place. The 20mm strap is interchangeable to allow you to personalise your watch to match your style and even your outfit.
The new watch has a 1.1 inch 360 x 360 resolution display covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by a dual core Exynos processor with 768MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It will run Tizen-based Wearable OS 4.0 with a 230 mAh battery that is charged using WPC-based wireless charging and is waterproof to 5ATM.
The Galaxy Watch Active is about more than just exercise but will also track your sleep, stress and general health features such as blood pressure monitoring. The blood pressure monitoring is performed by downloading the my BP Lab app directly to the Galaxy Watch Active. As for exercise monitoring it can auto-detect the exercise you are undertaking if it’s a run, cycle, elliptical or a dynamic workout. You can also manually begin and monitor more than 39 different activities to go with these.
The Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with both Android and iOS and features third party apps such as Under Armour, Spotify and Strava. Bixy is also present to allow you to control the watch to send texts of make calls.
The Galaxy Watch Active is available in Silver, Black, Rose Gold and Sea Green colours and local pricing is yet to be revealed but of course we will let you know when we know.
Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e
The Galaxy Fit has been successful for a number of years and this year Samsung are updating them with the new Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e. The Fit is available in Black and Silver and the Fit e is available in Black, White and Yellow.
The Fit has a bigger display than the Fit e (0.95 inch AMOLED vs 0.74 inch PMOLED) and is bigger in all dimensions (18.3(W) x 44.6 (H) x 11.2(T) vs 16.0(W) x 40.2(H) x 10.9(T)). The Fit also has more RAM and onboard storage and a larger battery (120mAh vs 70mAh) and charges using NFC Wireless while the Fit e uses Pogo pins to charge.
The Fit and Fit e are thin, lightweight wearables that more closely resemble the usual fitband/fitness tracker wearable. They are designed to be able to be work by everyone from casual to serious athletes alike.
Both wearables will automatically track your exercise when you begin to walk, run, cycle, row, hop on an elliptical trainer and begin a dynamic workout. As well as this using the Samsung Health app on your phone you can begin over 90 other activities and the Fit or Fit e will track it.
The Fit and Fit e also have a focus on general wellness and as such have enhanced sleep analysis and smart stress management. With a simple UI they are easy to use and can be customised using various widgets and watch faces. Both the Fit and Fit e are water resistant to 5ATM which may come in handy for your watersports.
Galaxy Buds
After being outed as part of the Galaxy S10 leaks the Galaxy Buds came with little surprise. They are Samsung’s new true wireless earbuds with sound tuned by AKG.
They have an ambient mode that allows you to also hear your surrounds even when the music is on and an adaptive dual microphone to help your calls sound crystal clear at the other end whether you are in a noisy or quiet environment. Bixby is also integrated to help control calls, text messages and to find out the battery life left on the earbuds.
In such a small package, the Galaxy Buds have a battery life of six hours of continuous streaming and up to five hours of calls. Add to this the charge that is in the case, up to seven hours and you have a long battery life. The charging case also has fast charge and in just 15 minutes can give the Galaxy Buds over 1.5 hours of use.
The Galaxy Buds are available in Black, White and Neon Yellow colours with each earbud weighing just 4.9 grams. They do support Bluetooth 5.0 which should help the battery life with the charging case charging by USB-C and wireless charging as we have seen in the leaks.
For Australians, users who pre-order a Galaxy S10 from a participating retailer between 9am today and midnight AEDT March 7 will receive a bonus set of these Galaxy Buds, valued at $249.
Samsung have really produced some great wearables to complement their new flagship line and are looking to move into the wellness space in a big way. For me I would love to check out the Galaxy Fit. What about you? Which one do you want to see most?
