Huawei CEO Richard Yu has said that by the end of 2020, his company will overtake competitor and market leader Samsung in gross unit sales, making Huawei the worlds leading smartphone manufacturer.
Undoubtedly as part of their confidence in the upcoming foldable Mate X and 5G pathway, the manufacturing giant is ready to go to market with a number of devices and will surely continue their attack on the mid-range devices as well.
After such a bold claim, Huawei’s main competitors Samsung and Apple will have plenty of work to do in order to maintain their positions at the pointy end of the market. Personally, I’d like to see innovation rather than new iterations of devices, with a particular focus on battery life without going to the almost comical levels that Engergiser did with their 18,000mAh phone.
Huawei has managed to significantly improve battery life on its devices. Both Samsung and Apple could learn a lot here.
