It’s fair to say that some big manufacturers have decided that foldable devices are the way of the future. Samsung is well invested now, Huawei has delivered, and OPPO is delivering its second generation of foldable: The OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N2 Flip.
OPPO Find N2
The OPPO Find N2 is the second generation of the OPPO Find N, with a significant boost in specs and capabilities.
The specs of the Find N2 include:
- Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
- 4520mAh battery supported by 67W SUPERVOOC charging
- 7.1-inch inner display can reach 1550 nits, and a 5.54–inch outer display 1350 nits of peak brightness
- 50MP Sony IMX890 Main Camera, 48MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP RGBW 2x telephoto camera
- 14.6mm thick when closed
- Weighs just 233 grams
- ColorOS 13 and Android 13 out of the box
Part of the evolution of the Find N2 is the hinge development which now results in a better overall experience. The use of carbon fibre and high-strength alloy reduces weight, increases strength, and reduces componentry.
The improved structure of the second-generation Flexion Hinge also brings a less invisible crease compared to the previous Find N. The crease along the centre of the Find N2’s inner screen is 67% narrower for a more immersive work and entertainment experience. The improved hinge also gives the Find N2 screen no gap when the device is closed, a near invisible crease and protects your screen from ingress of contaminants.
Billy Zhang, President of OPPO Overseas Sales and Services, said:
Foldable smartphones are one of the most important product strategies of OPPO. With the Find N2 and our first flip-style device, the Find N2 Flip, OPPO is confidently competing in this growing segment of the smartphone market. We will continue to invest in foldables and look forward to bringing them to more users around the world.
OPPO Find N2 Flip
The other announcement — although a little light on in terms of specs — is the OPPO Find N2 Flip. At a cursory glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s a Samsung Z Flip, however, there’s a couple of differences when you really look. The hinge and screen allow the device to close flat on itself and the screen has a near-invisible crease to it.
It’s said to be thin, light and have the largest cover screen of any flip phone on the market to date. OPPO also state that the N2 Flip will give all day battery life thanks to the combination of the 4,300mAh battery and power efficiency of the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset.
Both devices are set to debut in the Chinese market, with expanded markets to follow soon after. There’s undoubtedly plenty more to come by way of specs and info in the next week or two. We’re very keen to get hands on time with the Find N2, and extremely interested how the N2 Flip stacks up in the growing flip phone market.
