Owners of the Samsung Galaxy A5 are going to start the new year off right with Optus advising in their software update blog that they’re testing Nougat for the handset.

There’s bare bones information about the update, which will take the phone from Android 6.0.1 to Android 7.0, but Optus apparently expects to start rolling the update out at the end of January next year. That’s providing that all goes according to plan.

There’s no information on a Nougat update for other A-series handsets in the Optus range such as the Galaxy A3, but there should be something there further down the track.

It’s not there yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on progress throughout January.

Hrm not sure if this is right. The 2016 Galaxy A series didn’t come out in Australia and surely the 2015 model wouldn’t get updated to Nougat?

I just checked the Optus website and the 2015 or the 2016 version are nowhere to be seen.
