Instagram For Android

Being owned by Facebook, it kind of makes sense that Instagram would develop business profiles for the countless business users that use Instagram as part of their social media presence to grow their brands. It seems that these profiles have been progressively made available in the last few days, and just this afternoon, Ausdroid’s Instagram account was selected to ‘update’ to the new layout.

The Business Profile for Instagram really doesn’t add an awful lot to a standard Instagram profile; there’s a new Contact button, which allows users to call, email or get directions to your business (depending which information you complete in your business profile). Business users can also select a category for their business so that users browsing the profile can see, at a glance, what you’re about and how to get in touch.

While our profile isn’t all that significant (Instagram, unsurprisingly, isn’t a huge part of Ausdroid’s online presence), we received an invitation from Instagram to try out the new features earlier this afternoon. The feature isn’t official or widely available just yet, with an Instagram representative commenting “we are testing new business tools coming to Instagram in a few months”.

With over 200,000 advertisers on Instagram, and more than 400 million users, it makes good sense to have business / brand specific features.

I just want the damn app to stopping running in the background all the time even when I have switched all notifications and updating off. It’s even more annoying as when I dont greenify it it has a notable impact on my battery life. FFS
