Telegram is our messaging service of choice at Ausdroid, and we’re part of a 100 million strong install base for the app. Telegram needs to stay sharp when it comes to functionality, and with regular updates, we’re pretty impressed with how the service has grown.
The latest update from Telegram offers a lot of new features, improved functionality as well as well thought out privacy tweaks.
The entirety of the changes are outlined in their blog post, but the highlights in terms of privacy are:
- Delete any message on both ends in any private chat, anytime.
- Control whether your messages link back to your account when forwarded.
- Control who may see your profile picture.
Some general “fun” use items include the ability to search for Emoji, GIFs and Stickers in the redesigned panel and getting emoji suggestions for the first word you type in a message.
Finally a few functionality improvements include watching GIFs and video messages without waiting for them to fully download and if you turn to landscape, you can watch autoplay videos in full screen mode.
There’s quite a bit in it on top of this in terms of stability and performance improvements. Telegram have been doing an excellent job of maintaining their position at the pointy end of the messaging pack.
