It’s always a delight to see what the carriers are thinking about to make their offerings more attractive. Optus has an add-on (released this month) that gives users unlimited data at full speed for 24 hours, and if you’ve missed the details, here’s what you need to know.
Of course, this isn’t something that users are going to want to run all the time, that would be $150 per month alone. Coupled with the cost, there are a lot of add-on options on the Optus network and only one at a time can be attached to your account. If you’re perhaps a touch short on data, or know that (while away for a few days) you’re going to be lacking Wi-Fi — First world problems right? — and hammer your data connection, then this is a great option.
To be eligible to use the $5 data option, Optus customers need to be on one of the following plan options. Postpaid: Optus Choice, Optus One, Optus Family and Optus Kids plan. Or for Prepaid Customers, Prepaid Epic Data plan who have a $30 or more recharge.
If you need the data boost for a day or two, adding it to your account is as simple as
- Open My Optus app
- Select Unlimited Data Day
- Once you purchase the Add-on you’ll see a confirmation screen, and once activated you can start your data buffet.
Keep in mind though, if you’re planning a getaway and aren’t in a contract – you are free to chop and change your plans as you need to with carriers. So you could potentially go up a plan for 1 month, giving you the extra data you need and then go back down.
