For users awaiting connection to the NBN, but trapped by the shortage of HFC modems there is some good news light at the end of the tunnel. This just added to the nightmare that HFC connections is rapidly turning into through a variety of factors with the data delivery. Thankfully the light at the end of the tunnel for consumers is, as noted in February, the modems are returning to stock and connections are recommencing.
NBN Co will need to address existing reconnection orders totalling approximately 31,000 orders prior to new connections. This leaves new connections waiting until late May prior to those orders — presumably, a couple more shipments of modems arriving — can be completed as they stated in a press release this week:
NBN Co is now using the first new deliveries of HFC modems received in March 2021 as well as the limited stocks in its warehouses for reconnection orders, in addition to premises without a legacy phone or internet service and medically vulnerable customers.
Clearly in our current age, being without the Internet is not an attractive situation because so much of our lives revolve around connectivity. NBN Co acknowledged the inconvenience causes and the patience that customers have shown during this frustrating time.

I decided to go with Telstra mobile broadband, using a Telstra Netgear Nighthawk M2 modem, and Telstra Upfront… Read more »
