Possibly one of the most requested features since release, the installation of applications onto your microSD will be possible from Android Froyo (2.2) onwards.
This information came about after looking through the Android Issue Tracker, lo and behold “Status: Future Release” & a comment from a Android Dev:
Apologies, but I’m not permitted to disclose scheduling information – suffice to say
it’s coming soon 🙂Sorry for being vague, and thank you for your continued patience – I sincerely
appreciate it.Happy friday 🙂
Mmmm Froyo goodness..

On a slightly related issue, who knows where to get a 16 or 32GB card at least class 4 for a reasonable price, say sub $100 mark.
I am having serious issues sourcing anything other than class 2 in retail outlets (microSD this is guys).
Nexus one user here, been waiting to move my cyanogen mod to app2sd because of the pending froyo official support and the fact that once you do it changing cards gets alot more complicated so I would rather settle down with one card first.
Anyone else in the same situ?
