Here at Android Australia we aim to bring you news relating to everything Android in Australia, not just Smartphones. In the coming months there is going to be a lot of news coming out about Netbooks and Tablets, and we’re aiming to add them all to the site just like what we’ve done with the Phones.

The first Netbook off the rank is the Aspire One D260 from Acer and it will launch next week starting from $449. It dual boots both Android 2.1 & Windows 7 and claims to boot up into Android in only 15 seconds, sounds pretty good to me. Hit the break to read more

Packing a 1.66GHz N450 Intel Atom CPU, 10.1″ display, 1GB RAM (2GB max), 160GB HDD (250GB HDD for $499) Memory Card reader & 8 hours battery life, the D260 is certainly a little powerhouse.

You can also choose to include (at an unknown cost) 3G on bands 2100MHz, 900MHz & 850MHz, which will enable you to use 3G across all the major carriers, including Telstra’s ‘NextG’ Network, flawlessly.

If you’re not happy with the default black colour scheme, Acer allows you to choose from Charcoal, Purple and Pink. I think they’ve got everyone covered there!

Where can I get the purple one in Australia?

agreed on the touch screen requirement. Android netbooks have been done before, by Acer no less. This is just Acer trying to cash in on Android’s success on phones.

Android isn’t the same without a touch screen. would have done better to stick ubuntu on there.
