Everyone loves a premium product, so the fact that the newly released Sony Ericsson X8 ‘Shakira’ is on its way to Optus Prepaid can only be good news. There is currently no date for availability, but it’s currently available for pre-order on the Dick Smitch website and no doubt will be available from Dick Smith retailers in the near future.
The X8 runs, yep you guessed it, Android 1.6 powered by a 600MHz CPU and has a 3″ capacitive touchscreen for you to play with. The device is a grown up X10 Mini, or a shrunken-down Xperia X10. Whichever way you look at it, it’s filling the void between large and small devices at a reasonable price given the specs, which can of course be found after the break.

whats with the out of date android os versions?
And by ‘far better specced’ I really just mean that it’ll have 2.2 rather than ancient 1.6
and stock android, not having to wait for 2.2 (ehemm.. X10).
UGH at the SE launcher. They couldn’t use the X10 launcher?
Wonder what the % of users who download ADW in the first day is.
Or get the LG Optimus One, a far better specced phone which’ll be about the same price probably.
If it ever bloody comes out that is.
The optimus one is $50 more expensive apparently, according to old posts, stil, it is heaps worth the extra!
