We have a lovely little tipster who send us in some information regarding the Arc and Virgin. It seems as though Virgin is going to be the one, to lead the race to the bottom with pricing, by launching the Arc at $5 on a Easy Cap 49. This makes it $54 dollars a month, which is a great deal. Included on the Easy Cap 49 is $450 worth of credit, 500MB of data and Unlimited Virgin 2 Virgin calls and text. Finger crossed the “Coming Soon’ shown on the bulletin means real soon.

Given that its based on last year’s tech (Single core 1GHz with 512MB RAM) , Sony’s track record with Android, and the fact that there are cheaper alternatives like Nexus S and Galaxy S, the only reasons for buying this is camera and design.

Despite being Sony it seems like a good phone. I am just curious as to how people rate Voda, Optus and Virgin.

HAving been on Telstra for so long might the service be mediocre

I have worked for telstra, currently work for virgin and my contract is with optus. Optus network is awesome, virgin uses the optus network but has better prices, telstra is overpriced and no matter what plan you are currently on i can guarantee your getting ripped off. If it wasn’t going to cost me $600 to get out of contract with optus, i would have switched to virgin a millon years ago. The only reason you should go telstra is if you go into the bush often. Lasly avoid vodafone at all cost, no matter how cheap they offer you… Read more »

is it just me, or is everyone hesitant to get a single core now dual cores will be flooding the market soon? Think ill stick with my broken keyboard Moto Milestone and import a dual core in the next few months.

Nice deal in the end I think the Optus deal ends up better value.

Optus Total Min Cost (24mths) = $1359
Virgin Total Min Cost (24mths) = $1296

The difference $63 and with Optus u get $700 a month.

There technically should be a difference of $240 considering that there is a $10 gap/month as the cheapest on optus is $5/month on a $59 cap = $64

That’s not a bad price, but still can it compete with the new Dual Cores!

Ok. I’ll just stick with Virgin then. Need release date now
