Well how about this Ladies & Gentlemen, the Samsung Galaxy S II, which I just got my hands on, is coming to Optus Business in June (see, the roadmap was right), although you can pre-order this bad boy right now if you have an ABN. It’s $0 upfront on the $79 Optus Complete Business Ultimate Plan, $5 on the $59 plan and $14 on the $49 plan. They’re also throwing in a free $60 desktop dock for your new device so you can charge it whilst still being able to have it sitting comfortably next to you, how sweet. So much for waiting until the 26th for the official announcement.

Optus do note that their version of the Galaxy S II will feature the Super AMOLED + display which in turn means it is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos Dual-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz. We’re not too sure about NFC at the moment, signs are saying it’s there though. Your move, Telstra.

i always wanted this phone, and the moment they announced it would be announced/introduced to Australia on my birthday (26th May) it was a sign!

Great! Thanks for info Ben. 🙂
Now I just need to decide between Samsung Galaxy S II or the HTC Sensation (if it’s on Optus).

Morkai

this is my decision to make as well, though throw in the Xperia Arc too.

OK 20 minutes on the phone to Optus sales person….who passed me to Optus tech…..who had to speak to Samsung was told that they haven’t officially released NFC in the device so could tell me if Optus would support it or not…….

Whatever that means for NFC

Hell yes…. ordered (was an existing Optus customer already, so it made the transition even easier)

Optus gave me an estimated delivery date of the 23/05/2011… which doesn’t sound right.

That said, i’ll post an update if it does arrive before the estimated June delivery as reported.

Chocito

When will this come out on normal plan?

Peter Goldsmith

 NFC maybe?:

The Galaxy S 2 is quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 capable and includes dedicated support for the emerging NFC (Near Field Communication) high frequency wireless communication technology.

Sorry, I know this sound like a stupid Question to you guys, But what is NFC?

phroghollow

Near field communication.
Basically allows you to swipe your phone and pay for things, checkin or sorts of things.

Morkai

similar to those new Visa Paypass debit cards where you swipe the card over a sensor instead of swiping it and selecting an account, putting in your PIN etc.

I was so looking forward to this until I recently found out SII is now using yamaha chip set instead of the Wolfson which they used in the SGS. This means we will no longer have VOODOO sound for this one which is such a bummer. I really like my SGS with VOODOO sound.

I was so looking forward to this until i found out SII now uses yamaha chip set instead of wolfson so no more voodoo sound which to me is really bad!

Okay, there have been some big typos before but this time I can’t help but point something out: it’s “your move” not “you’re move”. Typos like that can really put a dent in a site’s credit so should be avoided at all cost. It isn’t just one writer – it’s all the staff. A simple check — and a basic grasp of the English language — is all it would take get rid of these sorts of errors as you obviously aren’t all idiots. I mention this purely from an empathetic point of view: I’d like to see the site’s… Read more »

If you know the dimension of the phone anyone can tell of NFC is present or not!!!
Non NFC thickness – 8.49.
With NFC thickness – 8.9.

Buzz Moody

Well there you go, no NFC.

Dennis

no. 8.9mm thickness is the Korean domestic version with built in TV tuner.
