Huawei have just announced an absolute power-house of a Tablet at their launch event over in Singapore. The Huawei MediaPad comes off the back of the global success of the IDEOS S7 — sold here as the Telstra T-Touch Tab. A first for any Tablet is Honeycomb 3.2 which Huawei insists is Honeycomb 3.1 but suitable for 7″ Tablets. Here’s a wrap up of the specs, and they’re nothing short of spectacular:
- 7″ IPS LCD Display (1280×800)
- 1.2GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm CPU
- Android 3.2 (Honeycomb)
- 3G – 14.4Mbit HSDPA / 5.76Mbit HSUPA (Unknown Bands)
- 5MP Rear Camera / 1.3MP Front Camera
- 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
- 8GB Internal Memory
- 10.5mm thick / 390grams
- HDMI-out
- 6 hours video playback
That 7″ IPS display has the same pixel count as every other 10″ Honeycomb Tablet currently available, meaning that pixel density is going to be quite impressive — 217ppi compared to 149ppi on the Galaxy Tab 10.1v. The whole device is powered by Qualcomm’s new MSM8660 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU which I believe is the same one as the HTC Sensation. Huawei has an upcoming showcase event later this month in Sydney, so we’re hoping the MediaPad gets a mention there. We’ll keep you posted.
I was wondering if the touch screen is capacitive or resistive? The capacitive screens are much better as they are more responsive and allow multi-touch gestures such as zooming etc.
Wow! Now this is something worth considering…..
I hope the price is low
Sold!!
As long as it has hdmi mirroring and wiimote support
Me want…. Badly 🙂
Specs look awesome but I hope they have a good battery in it. Also, hate to say it but the design looks a little familiar.
It does looking strikingly familiar to something.. 😉
*wipes drool off keyboard*
Me too….
drool… yes… drool 🙂
That’s quite an upgrade from the T-Touch slab! Hmm, 7 inches is a little small though.
