The saga continues, ladies and gents. Samsung is showing that it’s not too fussed by Apple wanting to ban the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, by submitting its own counter-claim that to the Federal Court of Australia. In this claim, Samsung says that Apple’s iPad and iPhone are infringing upon 7 of their patents.

These patents are mainly based around wireless communication standards (more info after the break). The obvious settlement that Samsung is going for here is the approval of sale for the blocked Galaxy Tab 10.1 along with any further devices they wish to launch here in Australia.

Samsung have said..

“It [Samsung] has invested continuously in R&D, design and technology to produce our innovative and cutting-edge mobile devices.”

I sure hope the Nexus/Galaxy Prime and Galaxy S III are two of those cutting-edge mobile devices Samsung are working on. A run-down of the 7 patents in questions after the break.

sorry, thought i’d surfed to the ausdroid website but those patents were obviously in a different language…

so over it.. but as the saying goes, a good offence is a great defence… just call it all null and void let everyone get on with making us good devices.  iphones for the lower iq people and androids for the rest of us  😛

lol… I’m so with this comment.

Had a noob ask me today why I love my Galaxy S 2. Gave him my reasons and got him all excited about an Android device. Then asked me which phone should he get, so I told him to get an iPhone… my exact thoughts as this comment. 🙂

Older original Samsung phones look horrible work totally illogically and any idiot can see how Samsung has copied everything from design to packaging to user interface from Apple. They opt for cheap materials to compete and these phones just don’t last. In the real world it’s the morons who buy Samsung phones influenced by superficial advertising on tv, Apple users were are and always be the the smart ones and ahead of everyone else. People who don’t like Apple are the ones who never used an iPhone or who simply can’t afford one, I should know I used them both… Read more »

WHYYYYYYYYY !!!! Why should it get banned only in australia, all other countries are all selling, most of all in USA.
If USA can sell it, why can’t others!!! Apple can go to hell !!

Simple reason here is that Apples Market in Australia is more fragile than the US Market so it does whatever it can to protect it’s business interests, in the same way why we only have two major supermarkets in this country and they both run other sideline businesses such as Petrol Stations in partnership, and soon hardware stores as well owning most variety stores eg, BigW Target Kmart, most often we think we are shopping around, when we all we are doing is going from one version of the business to the other, and the same moron gets our money…… Read more »

The iphone has a larger market share in Australia than the USA…. Just saying as your facts are incorrect to say our market is more fragile as apple has a good hold here.

In the USA the iphone market share has been on a slow downwards trend for a while now.

I think the real reasons are legal rather than market shares. Apple will sue in countries where the local laws give them a good chance of winning. The Dutch sent them packing, the Germans folded. What happens here will be interesting. If Samsung look like winning then there will be some out of court settlement and it will all go away. If Apple wins then they are being handed a monopoly, and nobody wants that, even the iTards.  Because without competition they will be price gouged even more.
