Optus has rolled out their Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy Tab; Telstra has rolled out their Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy Tab; Vodafone have delayed their Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy Tab because of an incorrect APN that was detected during carrier testing.
Following testing of the Gingerbread software update, we have identified an incorrect configuration with regards to the APN settings. We are currently working through this and have asked Samsung for an updated build. Once we have received the updated build, full testing will then need to take place.
We first heard that all the carriers began testing Gingerbread for the Galaxy Tab back in April, so it has taken quite a long time for these updates to come to fruition. It seems you’re just going to have to hold out for a little while longer, Vodafone customers.
I asked Samsung Australia about updates for non Telco SGT:
“Dear Ron,
Thank you for contacting Samsung Customer Care.
Version 2.3.3 Is not available in Australia as of yet.
The details of when the update will be out in Australia is still
uncertain.
Kies will notify you of this update.
If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact
Samsung Customer Care on 1300 362 603.
Thank you for contacting Samsung.
Kind regards
Tenaya
Samsung Customer Care”
🙁
Might be useful if you mentioned what size / model tab you are referring as most do not show ANY samsung tablets on their site, and the picture looks like a 10.1
They only sell the 7-inch..
And here we have an excellent example as to why I use the Overcome Rom. Actually just updated to Overcome 4.0 today. Love their work 🙂
adb remount
adb push apns-conf.xml /system/etc
adb shell chmod 755 /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
adb reboot
Then they have to resign the update, then it has to be tested by Samsung (at the end of the queue) then it has to go to Vodafone to be stuck on the back burner for a while. Then it gets pushed out to the masses.
it takes like 30 seconds to update an APN what they hell are they doing?
They’re evidently not reading our APNs page. Which reminds me; I need to do a major update of that soon as well.
You do. That page is a lifesaver, although for some reason the virgin apn won’t work on secure (https) sites. Dunno if that’s your fault, but I don’t think it’s a widespread problem because it has only happened on my nexus s.. there were no issues on my old ideos.
