The Galaxy S II HD LTE that Samsung launched in Korea back in September is now available for sale here in Australia through online retailers MobiCity. The Galaxy S II HD could be thought of as the Galaxy S II.V (2.5 — see what I did there?). It has pretty much the same kind of specs as the Galaxy Nexus and costs $749 — $50 more than the Galaxy Nexus.
I don’t quite know why you’d buy one over the Galaxy Nexus, unless you really liked the design, TouchWiz, or the 8MP camera over the Galaxy Nexus’ 5MP snapper. The full specs as provided by Samsung are:
- 4.65-inch 1280×720 (HD — 316ppi) Super AMOLED HD Display
- 1.5GHz Dual-Core CPU
- Android 2.3.x w/ TouchWiz
- 8MP Rear Camera / 2MP Front Camera
- 1850mAh Battery
- Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0
- 132.65 × 68.8 × 9.5 mm
If the interest is there, we’ll certainly review one for you guys. Otherwise we think the Galaxy Nexus is the device of choice, at least until the Galaxy S III (or whatever it may be called) is announced at Mobile World Congress next month.
I was playing with it in Korea last Dec on E120S. I can say it is a brilliant device and there are 3 variants E120L and E120K. Sadly, the units doesn’t support 3G 850mhz otherwise I will be using one today.
Kind of a waiting game now because none of the US/CA phones run on LTE work here in Australia because of the TV spectrum. Will just wait to see how the SGS3 looks..
How is this compared to the Note in regards to Specs?

Gsmarena lists the NFC as “optional”, as it does for the original SGS2, so caveat emptor. Weird that even with a bigger battery than the SGS2 (1650 vs 1850 mAh) it still gets less than half the stand-by time. Guess that faster processor chews a lot more power.
Yes, please review as this is the best specced Android phone out there at the moment. GS3 won’t be shipping until May like the others. Advantages over galaxy nexus:- bigger battery- more viewing area in screen as no wasted space for on screen buttons (will change with ICS I guess)- better camera- higher clocked CPU- SD card slot- possibly better GPU?- possibly LTE but not confirmed if it works in AUdisadvantages:- gingerbread/touchwiz- not many custom ROMs out in englishIn Ausdroids Galaxy Nexus review a few of those things were listed as cons, this fixes those. Hmm interesting… I just purchased the t mobile sgs2 t989 model from the states unlocked off eBay. I have read the specs unsure if its HD or not but it does have a 1.5 ghz dual core and the display is 4.5 inch. It is 4g capable wonder how it will stack up against this sgs2..

I consider this to be the best available hardware in an android handset presently. I would be interested in a review as it is a more attractive (and cheaper) option than a GNexus 32gb IMHO.
The obvious reasons to get this over the Galaxy Nexus are a microSD slot and LTE. Any idea which bands it has for LTE? My searches suggest it has 1800 but no authoritative sources.
question, is it compatible with LTE networks here.
The ability to put a micro sd in this thing alone would make me choose this over the galaxy nexus. I can always flash cm or some other custom rom later to get ICS while samsung drags their feet.
Doesn’t the GSIIHD have an Exynos processor and expandable memory? That combined with CM9 would make an awesome phone. Loving my GalNex though!!!
i dont know you would favor mpixels over speed of capture? I would rather go for the galaxy nexus. Too bad about the no sd slot in the nexus though.
the speed of capture hasn’t had the best reviews though with most reporting a very blurred image.

yes Telstra launched 4G last year and existing 4G/LTE handsets with a Telstra SIM do report much higher speeds.
Expandable memory is the biggest reason for choosing this over the Nexus I would have though.

I have a nexus and id go one of these instead for sure. Better camera, and LTE without losing the advantages of the Nexus.
Throw a custom ROM on to get rid of Touchwiz and youve got a great phone
