Google has released some information about Android take up and shown off their plans for their booth at Mobile World Congress. Andy Rubin has advised via Twitter and the Google Mobile blog that there are now 850,000 Android activations every day taking the total number of Android devices to over 300 Million which includes 12 Million tablets and in the past year the app store has grown from 150,000 to over 450,000 apps with over 1 billion app downloads per month.

Google plans on making their booth at Mobile World Congress a pretty good showing with a huge booth you can see above. They plan to have “app pods” there which show off some of the apps that are commonly available on Android, including some of their home grown apps such as Android Beam.

They also have a few fun features such as :

  • ADK Claw
We have developed an ADK controlled fun fair claw grabber to be controlled off a Motorola Xoom. The claw is controlled by tilting the tablet! Android collectibles will be inside the machine for attendees to win.
  • Bejeweled Bot
We will be featuring a unique Motoman robot which will be customizing the backs of some Galaxy Nexus phones. Be sure to come by the booth to see our robot friend in action.
  • Google Music zone
Shop music on Android Market and listen instantly using the Google Music app. Add up to 20,000 songs from your own collection to your Google Music locker for free and stream songs and playlists directly from your Android powered device—no downloads, no cables, no syncing.
  • Android Design
An interactive display showcasing our focus on beautiful and modern design. With the launch of Ice Cream Sandwich, Android UX team refined the beautiful Holo theme with effortless UI and more consistent user interface. The creation of Roboto marks the birth of a new type-graphical family for humans and androids.

Google has also advised that among their partners around Mobile World Congress they have Android Pins to collect if you’re lucky enougn to be attending, some look pretty cool…if you’re into that sort of thing :

Google is also interested in seeing what pin you would design, head over to their Google+ post and add it to the comments, who knows maybe you’ll win something.

Anyway, this is an exciting week for Android fans and Mobile technology enthusiasts in general so I can’t wait to see what other things are released in the coming days.
