If you’re looking to jump on the ASUS Padfone bandwagon then your time has almost come. On August 14 ASUS will launch the phone + tablet combination here in Australia — almost a year and a half since it was first announced back in early 2011.
For $999 at Harvey Norman you’ll get both the 4.3-inch Padfone and the 10.1-inch Padfone Station which only functions when the Padfone is placed inside it. The Padfone is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU and has a qHD (960×540) AMOLED display, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and an 8MP rear camera. Not too shabby really.
The Padfone Station has a 1280×800 10.1-inch display and a 6600mAh battery that charges the Padfone when docked inside it. There’s no CPU in the Padfone Station; everything runs through the Padfone and is then properly displayed as a tablet interface on the tablet.
The Padfone will launch running Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”, however, ASUS has promised to update it to Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean” in the near future. How that will actually play out, we’re unsure as the time frame isn’t set in concrete.
Are we going to be getting a review?
Premium price for last generation hardware really, its a good device but not $999 good 🙁
i really would have thought that this would have been priced at $800. 400 for phone, 300 for tablet, 100 for dock. Pity. oh well. at least ICS for my Gtab 10.1 is juuuuuuuuust about to drop
ASUS have been tops for upgrading to the latest version of droid on my TF101, allthough still waiting for 4.1 but I’m confident in thier update process. My HTC desire Z has NEVER updated the version of droid. Poor form.
Would this work with Telstra 3G 850mhz?
No only 900 and 2100mhz for 3g
