A few things are happening this week, and it seems one of them is the uncovering of Samsung’s work on their Next Big Thing, the Galaxy S IV. The Korea Times reported — and Samsung quickly denied — that the Galaxy S IV was under development. Now, there’s a leaked benchmark results that might prove that Samsung is indeed working on a new Android smartphone which could succeed the Galaxy S III.
The benchmark — shown in the article image, above — shows a device known as the Samsung TE4, featuring hardware not before seen in an Android device. The stand-out feature is the Exynos 5 Dual processor, which includes a 1.7GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, and Mali-T604 GPU.
Samsung has said in the past that it intends to use the Exynos 5 in a flagship tablet or smartphone, and while that hasn’t happened yet, it certainly looks a bit more likely now. We don’t really know what this TE4 actually is, but historically, leaked benchmarks come from test devices that later appear on the market.
The Mali-T604 GPU is equally anticipated, but as you can see in the demo video below, it’s a pretty hot piece of technology in its own right, and trumps the GPU found in the current-model Galaxy S III.
If this does turn out to be the hardware behind the next model in the Galaxy S series, it sounds exciting. Let us know what you think.
You would think that Samsung would have their own benchmarking software by now…
A15 in the next Nexus please Sammy! Pretty please?
Seriously? Samsung denied that the Galaxy S4 is under development?
With the S3 being the best selling phone in the world, they’re out partying and getting smashed every night and some time in March next year they’ll coffee-up, pull an all-nighter and knock the S4 together in time for a trade show the next morning.
Have I go this right?
Yup, basically. Samsung’s Twitter denied the S4 was under development. Amazing.
didn’t they deny that it would be announced at MWC? didn’t hear about them denying it being under development which would be impossible and even if it was, judging by what the development team for the S3 said, nobody else out of their department would know about it anyway.
This could be a Tizen phone!
considering that sony and lg are bringing in super smartphones now, its looking like a 4 way fight between sony, lg, htc and samsung as opposed to just htc and samsung. This dual core a15 hopefully should beat the quad core krait processor. I wish we could see more benchmark results. looking at the other results on powerboard, the lg optimus g has a score of 58.85, which is insane. I also think the mali t604 is the graphics hardware that will best anything so far. its good that the competition is hot on samsungs heels and already containing besting… Read more »
