Whilst the name may not be decided yet, Paul Obrien from Modaco is posting that he has had the rumour of a Nexus phone from LG confirmed by a source he trusts ‘101%’ not many details apart from some basic specs so far. He does make note that there ‘The device is based on the Optimus G but doesn’t look the same’, there will be no microSD card slot and the battery will be non-removeable -long press on power button to reboot from now on I guess.
Information on the device they have had confirmed so far :
- Quad Core Snapdragon S4 processor
- 2GB RAM
- 1280×768 True-HD IPS screen
- On screen soft keys
- 8 Megapixel Camera
- No microSD slot
- 8GB and 16GB versions only (at least initially)
- Non-removable battery
- Wireless charging built in
The launch date is said to be mid-November, Paul expects more details to come in so it may be an idea to check out the source link. Bearing in mind that LG actually tend to make pretty nice hardware but have historically had some issues with their software, is anyone up for an LG Nexus?
Non-removable battery is very uncool; I like to put in a new battery about a year in once the original starts to age. I am hopeful that lg pull this off though since they shouldn’t be able to screw up the software.
i have to agree with others- without the removable battery its a massive fail. As for storage- 32GB should be the starting point- 16gb was the Gnex and it is barely adequate once you do a nandroid backup or 2. basically leaves no room for media etc on your phone…. not sure i would get it if it was only 16gb and no removeable battery….
no removable battery and no sd card…. just buy an iphone
No SD slot and no changeable batter no way unless it is a big battery. If there is no 32GB version no chance without SD.
Good to hear that Google is giving LG a go. As you said, their phones have great hardware, it just the software seems lacking.
If the specs are like this then im sold. But i was hoping more for the OMAP 5. Oh well still good enough
If Google own Motorola wouldn’t that be the obvious choice?
Oh well, let’s hope this kicks LG up a notch to stay with the pack and finally fulfill the their own obligation to rollout consistent updates.
