We have been speculating on the existence of multiple Nexus devices since the Wall Street Journal posted an article in May saying that up to five manufacturers would be releasing Nexus class devices this year but so far we have mainly seen the LG Nexus 4 but over at XperiaBlog they have been pointed to a couple of photos on Picassa which show a device which looks very much like a Sony Xperia Device with stock Android running on it.
The photos come from a Picassa account owned by one Mutul Yeter and the URL as you can see contains the words Sony Nexus X. Take a look at the other photo that was uploaded to the account :
From looking at the photos, I can say that the back of the phone just has Google on it rather than the ‘With Google’ seen on the supposed LG Nexus 4 which is promising. The screenshot of the front of the device showing the OS does show the stock Android Browser icon and not Chrome which is the included browser with Jelly Bean and presumably any future incarnations of Android that would be on a Nexus class device.
Could possibly just be someone setting up a hoax, but really any chance of a Sony Nexus and I’m willing to chase that dream to keep it alive. Anyone else be excited for a Sony Nexus X?

This is one of those “I wish it were so, but probably isn’t”. Bloatware and Sony’s custom theme has kept me away from their awesome hardware for too long.
Nah. It aint real. I’m looking at the “Google” and smudged “SONY” labels on the back. The angles aren’t right. The weird bum-bulge on the thing would never be seriously released.

Two things lock this in as a nexus for me. 1 pogo pins on the side for a dock, very nexus. And completely on screen buttons, don’t think Sony has done them.
Which all in all is great news as I was getting scared the lg was it! Woop wool!
It’d be very interesting to see what comes out of the woodwork with this device.
LG’s Nexus device doesn’t quite hit the mark (assuming the 8/16GB of non-expandable storage is all that it ships with). I know that with a shift from one manufacturer to another, there are going to be major differences in design; but LG’s phone seems like a slight step backward for the Nexus brand.
Interesting to note though, that the phone appears to include POGO pins.

My understanding is that it’s because Chrome isn’t part of AOSP and would be added closer to the final build. I suppose that they need a tested and fully functional stock browser for the source code release and chrome for the public release.
Same phenomenon on the supposed ‘LG Nexus’.
Just a thought.
