Australian deal-a-day site Catch Of The Day has scooped most Australian stores today, offering the 32 GB Wifi Nexus 7 for $298 + $7.95 delivery. The deal looks set to expire at 10am Tuesday, Sydney time.
We’re still waiting for retailers both online and offline to update us on their plans to carry the device (along with its new 3G sibling), but this price is cheaper than the rumoured Dick Smith Electronics price of $319.
Google’s Play Store lists the device as “In Stock” for $299, though their delivery charge is $19.99. Catch Of The Day might take a little longer to ship but you’ll save some money.
Notably, these units don’t come with an AC power adapter. The 8 GB and 16 GB models sold in Australia thus far have space for this adapter in the box, and the Google Play listing for the device says the box includes a “Dual-voltage USB wall charger”. These units may have been imported and opened to remove foreign power adapters, and then sold “as-is” without the adapter. But a 32 GB Nexus 7 is still a 32 GB Nexus 7.
Update: Twitter user CRM_Sydney pointed out that Kogan also lists the device for $279 with $19 shipping – that’s actually a better deal.

I would buy from Kogan, any day. I bought a 16GB N7 from them approx. 4 weeks ago. Like Aaron, it has developed a speaker problem (seems to be common). I called Kogan and within 48hrs, they had arranged for the N7 to be sent back to them, at their cost. They have also promised not to sit on their hands as far as repair/replace is concerned as I am going away to NZ in three weeks time. Waiting for the 3g version!
For the very minor saving, I’d rather buy it direct from Google or even try and screw Harvey Norman or Dick Smith down a little. At least it’s local and if something goes wrong with it, I go back to the local store.
if its only $13 cheaper than Dick Smith I’d wait to get it from there …my first Nexus 7 had a faulty speaker and I’d hate to think how long it’d take to just swap it over, whereas you could just go instore and get a new replacement straight away
well this was listed at $319 when it first went up. they must have changed it to $298
