LG Australia has advised today that the Optimus L Series II, the next generation of their hugely successful L-Series phones, will be launching at Mobile World Congress later this month. As with the original L Series devices, the new phones will come in three flavours: The Optimus L3 II, L5 II and the L7 II.
Little information has been given regarding specifications for the two lower end models. The Optimus L3 II will have a 3.2″ QVGA IPS display with a 1,540mAh battery, while the Optimus L5 II will come with a larger 4.0-inch WVGA display and a 1,700mAh battery. No details regarding availability have been announced.
Considerably more information has been given about the Optimus L7 II – a Dual-SIM version of the phone is set to be launched this week in Russia. LG has listed the specifications on the device as:
- 4.3″ 800×480(WVGA) IPS Display
- 1GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon(MSM8225) CPU
- 768MB RAM
- Up to 4GB eMMC onboard storage with Micro SD
- 8.0MP Rear Camera with LED Flash and Front-Facing VGA Camera
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 2,460mAh Battery
- 121.5×66.6×9.7mm (122.2×66.6×9.7 mm for the Dual-SIM)
LG appears to be making all the models in the range in both Single- and Dual-SIM varieties. No information regarding Australian availability has been provided, but LG has promised to provide localised availability information as soon as they receive it.
The L Series II will continue the design heavy focus of the original L Series, but will bring with it a more “refined” touch including four new elements: Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button.
The devices will also continue to enhance LG’s customised Android experience with three main features: QuickMemo allowing for handwritten notes to be added to screenshots, Quickbutton enabling a programmable hotkey, and Safety Care with Emergency Call Forwarding, Phone Non-Usage Notice and My Location Notice – which can be programmed to get in touch with your chosen contact in the case of an emergency.
