As official sponsors of the Qantas Wallabies, Samsung Australia are gearing up for the first of the three Wallabies vs British & Irish Lions Test Matches. To bring their A-Game they’ve released an Android app that will feature exclusive live commentary for each of the three live tests, from perhaps two of the most entertaining sports commentators that Australia, indeed the world has ever seen – Roy and HG!
The App which is available in Google Play for free, features live commentary from Roy and HG, as well as access to a live social feed during and between the games that will contain tweets from Roy and HG, Rugby experts, Players, Australian Rugby Union(ARU) as well as fellow fans. Tweets will use your native twitter app using the in-app tweet button so you can maintain your place within the app and continue listening to Roy and HG.
In conjunction with the app, Samsung has launched a website, SamsungStadium.com.au which also allows you access to the social feed. The website requires you to login, you can either create an account or use your Facebook or Twitter account to do so. From the website, you’re encouraged to tweet to people to join the action at Samsung Stadium, by doing so they advise you will ‘unlock exclusive content such as outtakes from Roy&HG’. So, I did :

If you’re in Melbourne, Samsung is also setting up a pop-up showroom near Crown Casino, Ausdroid reader Mick kindly went investigating and took these awesome shots :

Tonights game kicks off in Brisbane tonight with TV coverage on Channel 10 from 7:30pm. The app is available in Google Play for devices running Android 3.0 and upwards. For tablets, the app appears to only be compatible with my ancient Touchpad, while my Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 are listed as not compatible. At 16MB you may want a wi-fi connection to download it unless you’ve got a few MBs to spare on your data plan. Check it out and see how it goes.

I listened to the first Match and was surprised how good the audio quality was and the sync with Live TV broadcast
Is this App for Samsung products only ?
No, its available on any android or IOS device
Thanks Nick …
This is the first attempt at TV being “social” that I have actually thought is interesting – I don’t care about twitter thoughts from people on reality TV, if you are the kind of person who
a) watches reality TV
b) lets people know that you watch it
c) care enough to comment about it
Then I really don’t care what you have to say…
However, alternate commentary from a proven duo of skilled comedians, combined with trash talk = Gold, count me in!!!
Oh cool. Downloading now.
