Another day, yet another LG Optimus G2 rumour.  This time it comes from Daum, a South Korean website with its finger on the pulse of all things LG. In their post they “confirm” a few of the specifications that have been leaked with regards to the Optimus G2 recently as well as offering a potential release date for an Optimus G2 based Nexus 5.

According to Daum, the G2 will come with different model numbers based on the LG-320 – LG-320S/320K/320L, they also confirm that the Optimus G2 will be announced at the New York City event scheduled on the 7th of August and will be released domestically(South Korea) on August 20th.  The list of specifications they’ve given do mirror recent proposed specs and include

  • 5.2 inches FHD IPS display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 13MP camera with stabilisation
  • 2700mAh removable battery
  • Dual speakers
  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

Additional notes include that the amount of RAM included still hasn’t been finalised with 3GB also being considered and that the camera has a stabiliser results in a big improvement in the camera quality. Although the G2 is said to have LTE-A and will most likely have standard LTE that is supported in Australia keep in mind that the LG Optimus G supported LTE while the Nexus 4 did not.  Hopefully Google do not choose to go down that path again, with all carriers now offering LTE and their relative network coverage improving daily.

Once they finished dishing this information on the Optimus G2, they’ve also advised that just as the Nexus 4 was based on the Optimus G, the ‘Nexus 5’ will be based on the Optimus G2 and is being developed simultaneously. They’ve further advised that a Nexus 5 will be announced on the 5th of October and will be running Android 5.0 ‘Key Lime Pie’.

Once again we will file this leak firmly within the rumour file as there is not much new in this as many of these specifications have leaked already. Many of the dates and details do fit together nicely though so I am inclined to err on the side of believing this one. This could all be wishful thinking on my behalf as I would love to purchase a Nexus 5 with these specifications.

Anyone else going to be saving their tax returns for this or the Nexus 5?

Now this is exciting. A phablet Nexus device? With specs as insanely good as that? Count me in. Especially if it has LG’s super thin 1080p display.
