Go large or go home seems to be the motto for a number of the members of the Open Handset Alliance(OHA) and a leaked roadmap of future devices for Acer, seem to indicate that they also want to go large with 5.7″ and 5.98″ smartphones appearing in their future lineup.
The devices, named the ‘Liquid S1’ and ‘Liquid S2’ in the leaked slides, appear alongside other lower end Liquid devices, but the two larger screen devices seem to be the standouts.
While Acer has requested Computer Base remove the slide, it turns out you can never really remove something from the internet :
The Liquid S2 will also apparently be launching with ‘K OS’, in August this year…..yes, or more rightly no. Android -‘Key Lime Pie’ is actually more expected to be announced and released with a new Nexus phone in the later part of this year around October/November in keeping with the time frame of the last two Nexus phone launches. So Acer expecting to release the device this month would not really be in keeping with reality, perhaps a 2014 release?
Acer has not yet released any of their Liquid series of Android phones here in Australia as yet. But, they’re an intriguing couple of devices and we’ll certainly be keeping an eye out to see if Acer Australia has anything to announce with regards to the devices.
Does a 6″ smartphone from Acer excite you?
