The annoying “package file is invalid” error, which recently began appearing on devices for a large number of Android users has been marked as resolved by Google Play Support.

First reported to Google Play on August 7, 2013, the Google Play team took less than a week to resolve it, finally marking the issue as resolved in the wee hours of this morning.

The errors should now be fixed for all and sundry, however it’s always good to talk to as many people as possible to see if there are any remaining issues. So, Are you still seeing the ‘Package File Invalid’ error in Google Play?

I’ve had these errors intermittently for at least the last quarter of a year, probably longer. This was/is not a problem only for the new google play store version recently released. It may have effected a much larger number of users this time to gather such attention from the android press though.

I’m still getting that error even now, when installing Waze.

No anymore, but I’m still not able to make video calls in hangouts on android. Causes a force close every time.
