Sony has updated their blog overnight with updates on their line of Xperia devices, advising exactly which products are getting the newly announced Android 4.4 update, as well as listing the schedule and lineup for Android 4.3.
First up – Android 4.3. The final Jelly Bean updated will be heading to a whole range of Xperia Smartphones next month – carrier approval pending for those locked models of course – with the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V all confirmed to receive the update. The Xperia Tablet Z will also be on the list of devices that will receive the update as well.
Now, what everyone wants to know – Kit Kat. There’s not great news for older Xperia devices when it comes to Kit Kat, but the 2013 line of Xperia Z devices – Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 will all receive Android 4.4. Exactly when the update will be ready and rolling out has not been advised at this stage, but the Sony Mobile Blog has promised further updates on the timing for updates as things progress.
Nice to get 4.3 on my Xperia TX. I don’t really care about the obscure new features in 4.3 itself, but it means one last clean up of the phone by Sony. Which is nice.
