Beam 2 front-side-back
It was just last month we saw the first hints of a successor to the Galaxy Beam, and now the followup has now launched in China .

The Samsung Galaxy Beam 2 includes a ‘built-in professional-level mini-projector’, which Samsung has listed as supporting only WVGA (480×800) resolution. The projector is an update from the original Galaxy Beam which supported only an nHD (640×360) projector. How many lumens the projector will support isn’t listed unfortunately, but the previous model was quite low power and needed a fairly dark environment to have much of an effect.

Beam 2 Projector

Apart from the projector the Galaxy Beam 2 seems like a very borderline low-mid end phone as was the original Galaxy Beam. Specs include a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Processor, 5MP Camera, MicroSD (up to 64GB), AGPS/GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 4.0.

It appears the Galaxy Beam 2 will be running Android 4.2 with Samsung Touchwiz overlaid atop. One of the original problems with the original Galaxy Beam was the launch with an older version of Android and it appears that Samsung is set to continue this with the Beam 2.

We did see the original Galaxy Beam launched here in Australia, and on our last visit to the Samsung Experience store in Sydney, they were still selling the phone. Whether Samsung decides to release the phone here in Australia is unknown but we will find out soon enough.

Just like the first, another below-tier phone idea that Samsung will completely fail to support with updates.and fixes.
