The latest Sony flagship – the Xperia Z2 – has been delayed somewhat since Sony’s announcement advised we should be seeing the phone launch globally in March. But it seems that it could be nearing a launch here in Australia very soon.

We know the phone will be launching soon, earlier this month we saw evidence that Telstra was gearing up for their launch. At the announcement, Sony advised that Telstra, Optus and Vodafone would all be stocking the phone.
It’s from one of these carriers – Optus – that we get our best idea of when the Xperia Z2 will launch. Ausdroid reader Liam, happened to be chatting with the Optus Live Chat staff about the phone and was advised that the phone would be launching on the 1st of May – yep, tomorrow.
It’s not much to go on, but Sony has been silent so far on when we’ll be seeing the phone. We’ve yet to hear back from Sony regarding the rumour, but stay tuned if you’re in the market for an Xperia Z2, tomorrow could be the day.
So it’s here: http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/sony/xperia-z2
Pretty pricey and weirdly paired with a pair of Adidas shoes??!!
Also seems to be stating next day delivery which is promising for stock levels and launch on other carriers
Also – what’s the deal with comments this morning? seems like the system switched providers for a second or something.

pretty pricey and wierdly paired with Adidas trainers??!!
Finally I can upgrade!
Pre ordered mine from mobicity at the start of March. Not happy if it’s available here before I get mine!!
I’ve been told tomorrow. But no stock as of yet 🙁
OMG.
I have perversely been waiting on this and passing up getting an M8 in the hope that it won’t be long. Am getting very close to just getting the M8 as my OneXL is closing on 3 years of service.
Needs to be Voda though (weird SIM swapping arrangemnts in my household). Hoping that they are not long behind…
The One XL is a two year old phone how can you have it for 3 years idi0t
Hi swaggy p.
You make a good and well articulated point.
I guess there was some exaggeration in my comment, and I did say “closing on” three years, not that it was already three years old. It is into its third year of service (I imported mine) and is three generations old in htc’s flagship lineup (one m8, one m7, one x/xl).
It also just feels tired and slow and time for change. Hoping the z2 will let me partially justify not getting a nexus 5 at release.
