The Amazon smartphone has been rumoured, and finally leaked over the last year or more, with recent leaks pointing towards an imminent launch. Now, a new leak originating from BGR has given us our best look at Amazon’s unannounced smartphone.
The above renders have given us a clear idea of what the device will look like, which appears to look like a cross between an iPhone and an HTC or Samsung phone. Beyond what the phone looks like, specs for the phone are rumoured to include:
- 4.7-inch display with 720p HD resolution
- Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
- 2GB of RAM
- six individual camera modules (yes six)
- highly customised version of Android (think like the Kindle Fire devices & Nokia X series)
The main selling feature of the device is the inclusion of six cameras, five positioned on the face of the device, four of which will be used to create a 3D parallax effect on the home screen and possibly elsewhere. BGR also posits that there will be a special “Prime Data” plan available to US customers, although whether the phone will actually launch outside the US is unclear.
The phone is expected to be released sometime next month, so we shall await to see if the device will make its way down here to our shores.
