Samsung-Galaxy-Alpha
After an August 4th announcement date was put forward yesterday, All About Samsung have apparently received some new information about the both the phone and the upcoming announcement of the new Ḿetal Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

All About Samsung has received word that the announcement date for the Galaxy Alpha, has been pushed back till the 13th of August. This puts the announcement closer to the rumoured announcement date of the Note 4, which if previous years are any guide, will be announced at IFA in Germany in early September, something SamMobile posited yesterday was something Samsung was hoping to avoid.

But, if specs are to be believed, the Note 4 and Galaxy Alpha will be, if you’ll pardon the pun, Galaxies apart in terms of specs. The Note 4 will as usual be the very best that Samsung can provide, while the Galaxy Alpha is shaping up to be a mid-range device which probably won’t merit a launch event despite the rumoured metal used in its production. The rumour of mid-range specs has been backed up by AnTuTu scores that All About Samsung found as well:

According to this entry, the Galaxy Alpha will have a Samsung made Exynos 5433 octa-core processor with Mali-T628 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Further, the Galaxy Alpha will contain 32GB of storage (Not expandable) and a 12MP Rear Camera and 2MP Front-Facing camera. Screenwise, the Galaxy Alpha will have a 4.8¨ 720P display, a far cry from the nearly 6¨ 2k screen expected on the Note 4. The Galaxy Alpha is expected to have the Fingerprint Sensor and heart rate monitor which was introduced on the Galaxy S5 and is also expected to be present on the Note 4.

We’re into August now, so we’ve less than 2 weeks to go before the announcement, but given the specs, we don’t expect an event, but rather a release on the Samsung website. Stay tuned, we’ll soon find out.

Darn, was hoping for S5 specs at least. The 720P doesn’t really bother me though.
