Xperia E3 Colours
Following hot on the heels of their wearables announcement, and their new smartphones and tablet flagships, Sony have announced a follow-up to their E series of smartphones for the mid-range market with the Xperia E3.

The E3, has been placed in the entry to mid-range level of smartphones, and with the E3 gets an update in design and specs. It’s quite a good looking device, which is both slim and lightweight, which Sony think will allow for easy use with just one hand.

It’s not top of the line, but includes a decent array of specs:

  • 4.5-inch IPS LCD Display (480 x 854)
  • 1.2GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 graphics
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB Memory/Storage – expandable to 32GB via MicroSD Card
  • 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front facing
  • Android 4.4.4
  • 2,330mAh battery

Sony will pre-load their media apps with access to their Sony Music and Video unlimited services. Additionally there will be exclusive access to digital music services, as well as movies from Sony Pictures, including The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain Phillips and Ghostbusters.

The phone will launch in four colours – white, black, lime, and copper – but colours will most likely be restricted by market. Sony will launch the phone in Autumn (Spring in the Southern Hemisphere) but we’ve reached out to Sony Australia for comment on if and when the phone will launch here.

  1. So Sony are going to dress up an entry level specs device in mid-range looks, and pass that off as being a mid-range device, and sell it at mid range prices?
I hope this device fails utterly in the market.
