The Oneplus One by Cyanogen has been something of a success story; Labelling themselves as the 2014 “Flagship Killer” with people waiting months to get their hands on an invite, but there’s a dark side to jumping onboard a startup train. Bugs… quite a few of them if I’m brutally honest, both Scott and I have one and we’re both of the honest opinion that this is not a daily driver for the average punter. It’s a late Beta at best currently, but there’s good news in the latest update that was posted on the Oneplus Forums yesterday.
The OTA update that is beginning to push out (I’m yet to see it on my device) has noted improved responsiveness of the touchscreen, NB. Not “Touchscreen issues resolved” as well as a host of other improvements and bug fixes
- Added method for users to report bugs directly to Cyanogen.
- Added pause button during video recording.
- Improved battery life.
- Fixed issues with camera exposure compensation stuck in ‘auto’.
- Fixed issues with ‘4G Preferred’ option not connecting to 3G data.
- Fixed issues with delay in torch activation.
- Fixed issues with unresponsive screen requiring reboot.
- Fixed issues with static in speaker when changing volume while headset plugged in.
- Fixed issues with rotation not triggering when rotated slowly.
- Fixed issues with Quiet Hours / system UI causing battery drain on last day of month.
- Fixed issues with camera not starting when LED torch is already on.
- Fixed issues with Bluetooth volume low on connection.
All of which is great news for owners of the handset that are using it as a daily driver or a development handset, showing the commitment is still there to make this the best handset it can be. It is a solid handset and generally performs quite well, but unless you’re prepared to deal with a few issues, it’s not for you yet; But as Scott stated in his review, Once all these bugs are squashed I believe this device will certainly be able to live up to the “2014 Flasgship Killer” moniker given to it by OnePlus.

Touch screen issues still present.
As a non-geek, non-developer user, I have to disagree with the opinion that there are a lot of ‘issues’, have used it as my daily phone extensively for the last 3 weeks and couldn’t be happier. Credit due where it’s due, it was because of the ausdroid review that I chose to buy this phone, but unless I’m one of the lucky few, I’m betting that most of the issues reported by some users are isolated incidents. I have been using this just over 2 weeks and I agree. The battery life and PQ are amazing. Just the slightest yellow time at the bottom of the screen barely visible. Either experience varies greatly out some very picky people out there
Just ordered mine yesterday from the site.
I also ordered the headphones along with it. Using a shipping forwarder (shipito). All up the phone is probably going to set Me back around 470 AUD. Not sure if I’m regretting it now that i think about it more with the nexus 6 soon to be released.. But oh well !

Question. Why did you not just by from a Chinese grey importer. Would be cheaper than $470
Because I got the invite off a friend, and would prefer the ‘official’ transaction history if anything were to go sour. I completely agree that the grey importers may be cheaper but it’s not too big of a deal.
