A new low-end phone seems to be about to head to Telstra’s pre-paid mobile service with the Telstra Rush (T792) popping up on ZTE’s website.
Telstra Rush (T792) isn’t going to set any benchmarks with its specs and it certainly can be classed as a very basic entry level device, but the surprise is that the device will be running Android 4.4.2 straight out of the box.
The full list of specs include:
- 3.5″ TFT Display (320 x 480)
- 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core
- Adreno 302 GPU
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB memory expandable to 32GB via microSD
- 2MP rear camera only
- Radios:
- 2G: 900/1800/1900
- 3G: 850/2100
- WiFi, Bluetooth v3.0, GPS
- Android 4.4.2
- 1200 mAh Li-ion Battery
It is unsure at this stage how much the Telstra Rush (T792) will be available for through Telstra, however we will keep an eye out on the Telstra website for. Though based on these specs, it wouldn’t be expected to fetch a high price given most ZTE basic smartphone do begin at the low price point.
It is unsure whether this Telstra Rush (T792) will be updated to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) but we’ll be watching the ZTE website and Telstra CrowdSupport forums down the track.
32GB MicroSD expandable, yes, but that doesn’t apply to space available for programs. There is no option to default to SD for program installs. Forget the advertised on-board “4GB” – most of that is already taken up, leaving the phone itself to advise only 1.8GB of “available” memory. Of that, there’s only about 1GB of flexibility for discretionary (ie, not ‘native’ Google) apps and program data. Using the SD slot to do the “back-up / reinstall shuffle” is an option for a bit more program space flexibility, but isn’t always reliable upon re-install. I’ve seen it advertised for around $60.… Read more »
