As anticipated, the Motorola built Nexus 6 has gone on-sale in the Google Play store in the US this morning. Unfortunately for us here in Australia there’s still no sign of the behemothly large phone on the Play Store. Links to Nexus 6 on Google Play are still showing the devastatingly familiar ‘Nexus 6 is not available in your country’.
The phone, which is available in Midnight Blue & Cloud White is being sold on Google Play in the US for US$649 for the 32GB version and US$699 for the 64GB version with a shipping charge on top. From early reports it seems like delivery of the phone is still a while off, with reports stating that the units are expected to begin shipping from the 21st of November.
The links for the various models include :
Though it’s tempting to purchase a Nexus 6 from the Play Store in the US and have it shipped here via a shipping forwarder, there are small differences in the radios between the US Nexus 6 and the International version which is expected to launch in 28 countries over the coming weeks.

Google Australia for their part have not actually announced a date for the Nexus 6 to go up for pre-order, or indeed on-sale in Australia. Rumours are circulating of an anticipated launch on Telstra in December, so perhaps it may be a late launch similar to that of the Galaxy Nexus. If you do have credible information about a launch date, we’d love to hear from you.
Or we could just be patient.
If Google still choose Motorola as Nexus partner next year I will skip Nexus and choose iPhone and 1+2 bundles.
Clearly Motorola does not have the manufacturing capacity to produce a world wide product let alone many models. Maybe they should just skip 2014 and move onto next years release.
Chris, even if they attempted that, it would be 2016, or more likely 2017, before Australia would possibly see any improvement from them, as they’d have to fix in advance, their entire supply and distribution chain to cope with a true global rollout of new devices happening all at the same time, instead of staggering the global rollout of new devices over about 9 months.
Jeni I see you didn’t get what I was saying, it takes a long time to develop a new phone let alone SOC etc. with the price and size and Motorola unable to produce product to supply the market in sufficient quantities this year is a loss. They can’t just skip ahead but we can write off the nexus 6 this year and see what comes next year. If Telstra releases the 6 only this year well Nexus is finished for me as is Android, I will move to Windows phone.
I’ve been refreshing the page every 30 seconds since 2am, still says not available in your country. Has anyone seen up for sale in Australia yet?
It’s not available for preorder in Australia.
It went up for preorder for a second in the US, then immediately went to out of stock.
Google are the absolute worst at launching hardware. Can’t believe after all these years making and releasing Nexus phones, they still manage to screw it up every single time. Not only did it go ‘out of stock’ within seconds, the shipping date is 3-4 weeks?
The Nexus hardware team are a bunch of morons. Just don’t have devices if you’re going to screw up the launch that badly.
Device goes on sale in the US and goes to ‘sold out’ immediately. Another failed launch by Google.
Should just get out of the hardware business altogether they clearly have no idea what inventory and stock levels mean.
As opposed to not selling any until they have bundles sitting in wharehouses? At least they are starting to get them out there.
Yes, open orders when you ACTUALLY HAVE STOCK to fulfill those orders. Clearly they don’t have ‘bundles’ sitting in their warehouse because the small amount that were processed on Google Play sold out.
They had the phone available on the website for mere seconds before it went out of stock. That’s comete rubbish. Google suck at hardware launches. Happened with the Nexus 4, 5 and now Nexus 6. Complete failure by Google/Motorola.
When compared with Nexus 6, it seems Nexus 4 and 5 launches are not big failures. At least we have the chance to grab one in Australia. However for Nexus 6, we even don’t have a chance. I hate Motorola very much because they never cares about Australia market (Please refer to Moto x 1 and 2). And also their phone is not quite good, why selling so expensive in Australia? $699 for X2? That’s crazy. I would go for iPhone and 1+1 bundles.
f telstra – theiving monopolised bastards – really hope i don’t have to wait another month, i need to buy like yesterday !
The international version is XT1100. US version is XT1103.
You didn’t see nuthin’ 😉
Yes, I did not see anything. Don’t know why I had to just mention the model numbers. 😉 Yes, i’m the same user, just registered an account and changed Nick names.
