Samsung has today announced a new line of devices, following on from the Samsung Galaxy Alpha with its metal unibody design, announcing the Galaxy A line of phones. The first phones in the series will be the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5.
The Galaxy A series are definitely right up there when it comes to design, and it’s this part that Samsung is playing up, describing them as refined and trendy. The phones will be offered in a range of colours from Pearl White and Midnight Black through to more subdued colour options such as Light Blue, Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Soft Pink.

Samsung are quite focused on the camera for the Galaxy A, including a 5MP front-facing camera on both models which includes a variety of modes for taking the best selfies, including Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, Animated GIF, Beauty Face Features, and Rear-cam Selfie.
Samsung are also adding touches here and there to make sure the phone runs fast and smooth. On the connectivity side, there’s Cat 4 LTE included to make sure that the phone will operate fast on a compatible network. There’s also a 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor in both phones to help with the general day to day use. On the front is a what seems to be Samsung standard SuperAMOLED display, with the A3 coming with qHD (960×540) resolution, while the A5 will at least get HD (720×1280). Samsung hasn’t announced pricing as yet, but they’ve advised that the phone will begin rolling out next month to a variety of markets – specifically naming China. We’ve asked Samsung Australia about availability in our market and hope to have some more information soon.
Personally, I hope that these devices launched to go toe to toe with the Moto Z and G are marketspace failures.

How is it somehow wrong to hope users choose to use real, uncontaminated Android, rather than devices infected with TouchWiz?
Because we aren’t the masses. OEMS are targeting people who don’t care about specs, UI or anything like that. All they care is if they can use Facebook, text, make calls, and make good photos. If they tick the box, you’ve got a winner.
