You’ve been patient long enough. Owners of the Nexus 7 (2012) GSM and Nexus 7 (2013) LTE can today celebrate with Google finally releasing Android 5.0.2 factory images and Binaries for the tablets on their developers page.
The update takes the tablets from Android 4.4.4 (KTU84P) to Android 5.0.2 (LRX22G). The images are available now on the Factory Images page or you can grab them from the links below :

Is it available for the wifi only model 2012 as well?
Yes, the OTA update for my 2012 Wi-Fi-only Nexus 7 arrived and installed fine.
Just shows you how it’s worth buying hardware with software company branding. Hardware-only companies have more of an incentive to obsolete their old devices, while companies like Google have their advertising rivers of gold to pay for maintenance, plus the hacker’s ethic of wanting to keep things working.
FYI 2013 model is the one with the rear camera (older only has front)… took me a bit to be sure myself 🙂
Flashed it twice and it just refuses to connect to my Optus 4G sim. It sees it and configures the APN etc, but it always has the little exclamation mark of an error and no data flows.
I put in a 3G sim and it works, so it is 4G that is the issue. Running the 4G sim at 3G does not work it has to be an actual 3G account.
OK I finally tracked down the issue. The auto configuration for Optus APN is wrong. Just manually edit the APN and change authentication type to PAP and then save changes. Let it sit for a few minutes and it will connect.
About damn time
I reckon I’ll stick to CM12 for now. If I have issues I’ll go back to the factory image. Thanks for the heads up that Google has finally finished it. I checked on it just yesterday.
