With the inception of their 4GX network, it was only a matter of time before Telstra brought their own Telstra branded handset to market and today the Telstra Evolution T80 has arrived.

The Telstra Evolution T80 is as usual built for Telstra by Chinese OEM ZTE. The T80 isn’t going to be top of anyones list when it comes to specs, but the handset is aimed at the entry level market for consumers looking to take advantage of the Telstra 4GX network without all the bells and whistles of a flagship handset. Price wise, the $129 price tag certainly matches quite well and should be a nice entry point for those looking to grab one.

The full list of specs include:

  • 4.0 TFT display (480 x 800)
  • 1.2GHz Snapdragon Quad-core CPU
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 4 GB memory (with 2.5 user space available), expandable to 32 GB via microSD
  • 5 MP rear camera, 0.3 MP front facing
  • Android 4.4.2
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS
  • 1820 mAh Li-ion battery
  • Dimensions: 125 x 65.5 x 11.58mm @ 146.8g
  • Networks:
    • 4G: Bands 1 (2100MHz), 3 (1800MHz), 7 (2600MHz), 28 (700MHz)
    • 3G: 850, 2100MHz
    • 2G: 900, 1800MHz

The manual for the Evolution T80 is currently available on the ZTE Australia website if you want to take a closer look at the phone, the features and find out a little more about how to use it.

Of course the main selling point is the 4GX connectivity which Telstra have stated is pretty fast download speeds. Telstra is currently rolling the 4GX network out across the country and if you’re interested in checking 4GX coverage in your area you can do so on the Telstra website.

The Telstra Evolution T80 is available now for $129 on the Telstra website, or head on into your local Telstra store to check them out.
