Ladies and gentlefolk, I’d like to invite you to celebrate — with us — the fifth birthday of Ausdroid. Yes, believe it or not, Ausdroid has been around for five years now, and what started as the small project of Buzz Moody has grown into the larger gathering that it is today.
We’ve hit some wonderful milestones along the way. Writers have come and gone, but some have stuck with us. We’ve published over 8,000 articles, and reached 18 million people. On some of our busiest days we’ve reached over 40,000 views in a 24 hour period, which is quite an achievement for a small site like ours.
We’ve also made the transition from a small blog to a (reasonably) reputable news outlet; we’re syndicated on Google News, we’ve traveled around the world to cover events, and things continue to look up for us. Daniel’s just come home from MWC 2015 in Barcelona, and we’re hoping to be sending him (and maybe another) over to cover Google I/O in the not too distant future.
We’ve built strong relationships with Australia’s mobile carriers both large and small, and with manufacturers of a wide range of Android and related phones, tablets, gadgets and more. Most recently, we’ve re-opened the Ausdroid Shop, to give you the widest range of phone and tablet accessories available in Australia with overnight shipping.
It’s something we couldn’t have hoped to achieve without the hard work and support of a number of people along the way.
First and foremost I’d like to publicly thank Daniel for all his hard work. A lot of his effort is seen – in the form of news stories – but a lot is unseen. Dan edits a lot of the work that gets posted on Ausdroid, both from the writing team and from Jason and I. He goes above and beyond just about every day, and Ausdroid wouldn’t be what it is without him.
Jason puts in a regular effort in attending Sydney events, coordinating the podcast and writing reviews, and it’s often a thankless task. For this, my thanks.
Phil, Scott and Alex do their part in writing the regular news. Phil had a particular interest in accessories, Scott in modding and more obscure software and Alex in covering just about everything else.
The remainder of our writing team put in as well and I’d like to thank them for their efforts too.
It’d be remiss of me not to thank our sponsors and supporters, and our friends at Gadgets 4 Geeks as well for helping us set up the shop.
Last, but by no means least, I’d like to thank you. You, the reader, the newsletter subscriber, the commenter, and the consumer of our news and reviews. Everything else would equate to nought if we didn’t have an engaged, rewarding audience, and we do what we do because and for all of you.
So, a big thank you, to one and all, and please join me in wishing Ausdroid a happy fifth birthday, and here’s hoping for many more.
🎂
Congrats Ausdroid, keep up the excellent work! One of the few websites I visit on a daily basis and the only site I visit for Android news.
One question though – what ever happened to Buzz?
Happy birthday, guys! Thanks for continuing to put out the news and we look forward to another 5 years of reading all things android on here.
Happy Birthday Ausdroid!
You’re still my first go to place every morning, and after work for Android news.
Thanks to all the writers, editors and creators for your efforts. You truly do love Android, and it is reflected in your articles.
CES next year Dan 😉
Happy Birthday Ausdroid!
I’ll just mention that it’s also the International Day of Happiness today.
How very appropriate!
Jason, why isn’t there an Ausdroid 5th Birthday PartyCast tonight?
Congratulations to the entire Ausdroid crew, past and present.
5 years of excellent reporting on Android in Australia.
Wow, 5 years! Ausdroid is unique in Australia and it’s definitely a credit to all you boys who work so hard at it. Congratulations on this great milestone.
Taking the world by storm! Love it!
Congrats.
Does Daniel do Ausdroid full-time or is it just a hobby on the side?
I wish. I have a full time job, this is a hobby.
Wow. You must completely buggered each and every day. Thanks man.
I have a feeling Dan might write and post a lot of articles from work 😉
Congratulations. Keep up the great work. All the gongs are well deserved. Thanks for flying the Android flag in Oz and bring great relevant local content.
Keep up the awesome work guys! Ausdroid is the pinnacle of great Aussie tech journalism!
A very happy birthday to Ausdroid, indeed 🙂
