The popular streaming network Twitch has updated their app to allow viewers on mobile devices to see when they have been mentioned in chat. The network allows gamers to stream their sessions around the world live for their friends and (depending on who they are) fans to view real time their successes and failures, incorporating a chat room allowing the streamer and fans to banter while the stream is live but until now the chat function on the app has been very basic.
Now users of the app will see the mention of their name in bold to their screen allowing a better experience for the user streaming as well as the viewers to respond more promptly to mentions. It’s a relatively minor functional addition, but coupled with performance improvements for viewing will be well received by users.
