Google has today announced a new tweak to search results on Mobile, which will see relevant tweets appear in your results, at least if you’re in the US.
Google will use two implementations of Twitter to enhance search results, with searches for a company on Twitter showing results from that Twitter feed e.g @nasa, or if you search for a topic e.g Malcolm X’s Birthday you’ll see relevant tweets from people about that topic.
How Google chooses which tweets to surface in results when searching for a topic isn’t clear, but we suspect that blue verified tick may be involved.
The enhanced search results with Tweets will be live in across the Android, iOS and mobile websites from today, with Desktop search results – and more countries – to be supported at a later date. We look forward to checking it out when it arrives
