Samsung will be releasing a Galaxy Note 5 handset this year, but when and what specs it will have are still not 100%, at least until the handset is officially announced. We’ve already heard that Samsung is rumoured to be launching the handset early, possibly to better compete with the upcoming iPhone launch and now SamMobile is ‘confirming’ that Samsung is including 4GB of RAM inside the handset.
The confirmation that the Note 5 will be coming with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM is just intuitive given that the new 64-bit processors can now address more than 3GB of RAM, and an extra GB will surely help to smooth over any possible performance bumps that TouchWiz may still suffer despite recent efforts to minimalise it.
According to SamMobile, the Note 5 will use the Exynos 7422 System On Chip (SoC), which is of course a slight step up from the Exynos 7420 that Samsung used in the Galaxy S6. The Exynos 7422 is a 64-bit octa-core processor which will include the CPU, GPU, RAM and Storage on the chip, as well as the Shannon 333 LTE modem used in the Galaxy S6.
Another couple of tidbits from SamMobile is that the Note 5 will use the same wierless charging system incorporating WPC (Qi) and PMA standards as the Galaxy S6. Samsung will also offer the Note 5 in the ‘usual’ Galaxy colours of black, gold, silver, and white.
We’ve reached out to Samsung Australia about an early launch, but we’ve not heard anything as yet. If they do stick to an IFA launch schedule, then we’ll see what they have to offer when we’re in Berlin.
Pointless to be honest. The S6 that I have has 3gb ram and its absolutely atrocious with ram management. Apps and webpages constantly reloading from scratch every time you go to them. I can fire up a web page, go to different tabs, press the home button, go back to the browser and the page has to reload. This is especially annoying when you’re filling out a fields on a web document and I have to refer to another app for the info. may be this issue is with Lollipop’s memory leak, i have seen many comments regarding this….hoping they will fix the problem in 5.1.1.
My wife is using s6 edge from Vodafone which was having the memory issue. but i then installed the indian firmware and issue is gone. but battery life still sucks 🙁
I don’t think it’s a Lollipop problem. My S4 did the exact same thing when it was on Kit Kat.
Definitely not the lollipop issue. This seems to be Samsung’s unique problem. 5.1.1 doesn’t solve it.
